Grottoes, Virginia
Wake to mist-draped Blue Ridge ridges, unwind in rooms crafted for stillness, and let the pace of the mountains become your own.
Our Philosophy
Natural Chimney was born from a simple conviction: the best getaways don't shout. They whisper. Every detail — from the hand-selected timber in our common areas to the thread count of your sheets — is chosen to dissolve the noise of the everyday.
Nestled on Grand Caverns Drive, our lodgings sit at the edge of the Blue Ridge foothills, where the air is cooler, the stars are closer, and time moves the way it should — at your pace.
"The most restful night's sleep I've had in years."
Accommodations
Each room is a private sanctuary — thoughtfully appointed with natural materials, plush bedding, and views that draw you outside without ever leaving your chair.
Panoramic valley views from your private terrace. King bed, deep soaking tub, and a wood-burning stove for those crisp mountain evenings.
Intimate and warm, with pine-scented accents and direct forest views. Queen bed, rainfall shower, and a curated library of regional guides.
A standalone retreat for small families or groups. Two bedrooms, full kitchenette, living area with fireplace, and a wraparound deck.
The Experience
Each terrace is positioned for minimal light pollution. Bring a blanket and watch the Milky Way unfold.
Private footpaths lead from our property into the surrounding woodlands — perfect for dawn hikes and sunset strolls.
From restaurant reservations to guided cave tours, we arrange the details so you don't have to think about a thing.
Every morning begins with locally sourced ingredients — fresh bread, regional cheeses, and eggs from nearby pastures.
The Setting
That's the gift of this place. No crowds, no curated entertainment. Just ridgelines that shift color with the light, deer at the tree line at dusk, and the kind of silence that reminds you what your own thoughts sound like.
Location
We sit on Grand Caverns Drive in the heart of Grottoes — close enough to the region's most celebrated attractions to reach them in minutes, far enough from the crowds to keep the peace. Shenandoah National Park's Skyline Drive is a short drive north; Grand Caverns, the East Coast's oldest show cave, is just down the road.
East Coast's largest show cave — 5 minutes away
Skyline Drive & hiking trails — 45 minutes north
Shenandoah Valley wine country — 20 minutes south
